The end of school has arrived! Well done amazing teacher- you did it again and got through another school year.
As a former art teacher and primary school principal, I have been part of both ends of the spectrum in a school system and I know exactly what you go through to reach June in one piece. Teachers are not only underpaid but under appreciated in so many ways so this post is dedicated to YOU, my lovely hard working teacher.
You may not hear this enough- another BIG flaw in the educational system but you know what? Change has to start somewhere, right? So… I want to say it to you NOW, today and at the top of my lungs:
Thank you for changing children’s lives
Thank you for being an inspiration, every day
Thank you for going beyond your teacher duties
Thank you for saving all those yoghurt containers, cardboard and all sorts of things ‘for later’
Thank you for planning and coming up with those fabulous lessons–breathtaking!
Thank you for taking the time to connect with your students
Thank you for caring about your students’ education
Thank you for writing all those report cards
Thank you for all your contributions in committees and meetings
Thank you for helping out with displays, stage decor, and all artsy things around the school
Thank you for creating those awesome art shows–you are brilliant!
Thank you for all your creativity
Thank you for taking the time to order great products on a small budget
Thank you for having such an inviting classroom–no wonder all the kids love art!
Thank you for all the things you do every day that go unnoticed
Thank you for all the extra school material you’ll buy over the summer on your dime
Thank you for returning next year
Thank you for being the most magnificent teacher ever!
Even though at times it may not seem like it, you have no idea how much you are appreciated!
I appreciate you. Your students appreciate you. You should appreciate you too 🙂
Your biggest fan,
Alejandra
PS: Pass this on if you know a teacher who needs some lovin’ right now 🙂
PPS: YOUR SUMMER ‘HOMEWORK’: Enjoy your holiday. Get plenty of rest. Spend time with family and friends. Do something totally different that you have never done before. Stay healthy. Drink green smoothies. Get a haircut. Get a mani & pedi. Journal. Look at yourself in the morning and say ” Good morning GORGEOUS!’. Watch movies with lots of popcorn. Take long walks. Smile. Be grateful. Tell someone you love and appreciate them.
